The British Province of Carmelites will be making a pilgrimage to Lourdes in this year when the Church celebrates the Jubilee of the 150th anniversary of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to Saint Bernadette.
We will be joining the Catholic Association Pilgrimage which has over a hundred years' experience of bringing able-bodied, sick and disabled pilgrims to Our Lady's shrine, thanks to its teams of volunteer helpers.
Travel will be with Tangney Tours by rail or by air, with accommodation available in a variety of hotels and the Accueil Notre-Dame house of welcome for some assisted (sick) pilgrims.

September 13th 2007 New Prior General
The Carmelite Order has a new Prior General (senior brother), on the morning of September 13th at the General Chapter of the friars in Rome. He is Fr. Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm.
Fr. Fernando is from one of the Spanish provinces of the Order. This is news in itself, because for over 100 years the Prior General has been ‘Anglo-Saxon’ (British, Irish, American, Dutch, etc.), and I think I might be right in saying that he’s the first Spanish Prior General since the time of St. Teresa of Jesus in the 16th century.
Before his election Fr. Fernando (who is forty-five years old) was professor of theology at a university in Madrid, and the author of several books. A frequent broadcaster and teacher in Spain, he has a particular interest in subjects such as reconciliation, interfaith dialogue, and – of course – Carmelite spirituality. He is passionate about formation for all Carmelites, and been very involved in various formation programmes.
Please pray for Fernando as he embarks on this new ministry of service for the Carmelite Family, and please remember too the outgoing General Fr. Joseph Chalmers who after 12 years in Rome will return to the British Province following a sabbatical.
