The carmelites follow in the footsteps of some of the great saints of the Church, such as St. Teresa of Jesus, St. John of the Cross, St. Therese of the Child Jesus, Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity and modern Martyrs, St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (Edith Stein) and Blessed Titus Brandsma. The Carmelite today includes Friars, Nuns, Sisters, the Third Order and new groups such as Carmel in the City. To pray and to do the work of the Church is the call of the Carmelites. To be occupied with God in prayer and work is the charism of the Order. The Carmelites are a Religious Order committed to the care and needs of the Church in all five continents of the world.
We are the successors of the hermits who lived in the Spirit of Elijah on Mount Carmel in Israel. The words spoken to the Prophet from the motto of the Order: "I am filled with zeal for the Lord God of Hosts". We identify with Mary, especially in the way she was totally receptive to the word of God. Our Mission reflects the Mission of Mary- to give Christ to the world. On 16th July we celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

COMMUNITY... Our religious life is a choice to share this life in community so that our vocation may be strengthened and so that we are more effective in our Ministry. Thus we pray together and work together, While the purpose of living in community is always for the service of others and in the spirit of Christ, the actual life together is a source of great warmth, support, encouragement and prayer. It is also the source of many lifelong friendships with one's fellow-religious, with their families and with the people we work among. Christ is our centre, he is the reason we are together. His mission is the centre of our lives and his friendship is what really invites us in the end.
THE CARMELITE WAY
Carmelites are called to share their commitment to Christ within a community of brothers. They are so called to share everything with their brother- their time, their income, their wisdom, their talents, their prayer. The life of poverty, celibacy and obedience offers great freedom to work for the Lord and his people.
